Travel

Knowing how to get around safely is important. Young people aged under 16 can travel free on services run by ‘Transport for London (TfL)’, the TfL youth travel webpage has more details. Children under 11 can travel free on buses, trams and most National Rail services in London without needing a 5-10 Zip Oyster photocard unless they look older than 10.

A Zip Oyster photocard enables:

  • 16 and 17 year olds to travel at half adult-rate on all TfL services and most National Rail services in London. If they live in London they may be eligible to travel free on buses and trams
  • 11-15 year olds to travel free on buses and trams as well as travel at half adult-rate on all other TfL services and most National Rail services in London

This TfL webpage describes discounts available with ZIP Oyster Cards and how to apply for the cards.
