YANA
Work with anybody 16-19 who is suicidal? WE CAN HELP.
Body & Soul run a completely free, award-winning, medical grade suicide-prevention programme called YANA ('You Are Not Alone), and we are doing our first ever 16-19 group starting October 4th.
If you have anybody 16-19 who has attempted suicide in the last twelve months, refer them to us online (click here) ASAP, and we can help them to move past their suicidal feelings and completely transform their lives.
Here's a summary of how we do it:
What does YANA involve?
• An initial six month online group of weekly Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, delivered by fully trained and qualified DBT therapists (widely considered the gold standard treatment for treating suicidal feelings and intense emotions).
• Lifetime membership of Body & Soul, including free access to; further therapeutic interventions; an individually tailored and bespoke graduate pathway programme for those who successfully complete the initial six month DBT group comprehensive casework support; DBT top-up sessions; comprehensive casework support; and CV building opportunities to help our members build their own personally-identified life worth living.
Who's eligible?
Anybody who meets all three the following criteria:
• Aged 16-19.
• Attempted suicide in the last twelve months.
• Able to get to our community building in EC1R for the initial assessment and first introduction session (the rest of the DBT group is online).
Does it actually work?
Yes! See our attached PDFs for our clinical outcomes. We also take the time and care to fully understand each new person coming to us to fully make sure that what we offer is the right thing for them.
I also speak from experience: I've done the programme myself. I had multiple suicide attempts on my record when I came to Body & Soul, and I genuinely believed that I would die by suicide before I reached 30. Now - thanks to the YANA programme - my suicidality has completely healed, I am truly free of living that way, and I am the happiest in my life I have ever known. It's hard work, but it was the first kind of treatment or help I ever got that actually worked.
Any questions?
No problem! Feel free to pop a quick email to our YANA Programme Manager - Amanda Larsen - or our Head of Referrals - Rachel Bothamley (both cc'd in), and they'll get back to you ASAP :)
We very much looking forward to helping any and all suicidal young people you may be work with. Please don't hesitate to let them know about us and refer them - they (and you) have nothing to lose, and potentially a completely transformed, happier life to gain.
