The Open House Project is a 12-week programme of life skills and employability workshops, drama classes and rehearsals, and public performance.
You’ll take part in a range of life skills workshops and activities, as well as drama classes. Sessions may include: budgeting, first aid, healthy relationships, healthy eating, mental health, drugs and alcohol, legal rights, CV writing, industry advice, yoga and boxing.
You’ll rehearse for a full scale public performance. You’ll get the chance to help develop the script, which is written especially for the Open House Project by a professional writer.
You'll perform the play to the public every evening as well as receiving support with your plans for after the Open House Project.
After an Open House Project you become a member of The Big House, where you may be eligible for employment opportunities, theatre trips, social events and additional creative projects.
The next Open House Project is starting on Monday, 24th February. This theatre project combines life skills and employability workshops, drama activities, and the performance of an original play in development. We also provide 12 months of follow-up support for all members who complete the project.
The project is designed for 18-25-year-old care leavers, young people with experience of the care system, and those at risk of offending or reoffending. While we welcome those interested in the creative industries, it’s also a great opportunity for young people looking for support and a positive experience, regardless of their career path.
We’re currently running taster sessions, giving young people a chance to see what The Big House is all about. There are only four sessions left, and spaces are filling up fast! If you or your team know anyone who might be interested, please complete the referral form below or give us a call at 020 7923 955.
