The Lexi Cinema
The UK's first social enterprise independent boutique digital cinema - that ticks quite a few boxes, doesn't it?
We donate 100% of our profits to charity and are staffed predominantly by passionate local volunteers. We like to think we're improving the quality of life for everyone in our little corner of northwest London and at the same time making a difference to the quality of life for a very different community on the other side of the world. An original way to watch films.
We’ll soon be hosting 'ANIMATION REFRAMED' - a one-off film school for young people aged 12-16.
Animation Reframed: A Summer Film School - The Lexi Cinema
Showing from Mon 29 Jul
thelexicinema.co.uk
Each day of the week (Monday 29th - July - Friday 2nd August, 2:00-4:30PM) we’ll be watching a brilliant 21st century feature, discussing the film’s artistry and themes, and getting involved in some creative tasks too. I’ll be running the course, which explores the unique power of animation from its history to today, touching on everything from Emile Cohl to Lotte Reiniger to Xerography along the way.
And as well as watching some stunning films (Persepolis, Fantastic Mr Fox, Wolfwalkers, Your Name), we’ve also got a stop-motion session with Maria Tomazou (The Tornado Outside), and a preview and Q&A with the directors of Kensuke’s Kingdom (Neil Boyle and Kirk Hendry),
We’d be really grateful if this could be circulated around your team, and followers/subscribers!
