Sound Sanctuary at Brent Mencap

There are upcoming music sessions coming up as part of the Sound Sanctuary programme in Brent for disabled adults and adults with mental health challenges.

Morning sessions: 10:15 -11:15am & 11:30am-12:30pm - Brent Mencap

These sessions are open to disabled adults and their family members / carers. Within the sessions music is explored  together with musicians from Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and a workshop leader. This involves getting creative, having a go at new things and hopefully having fun! Sessions are set up for around 10 people + carers to take part in. Please note, if you would like to stay for both sessions you would be welcome to - please indicate this on your application by selecting both sessions.

Afternoon sessions: 2:00pm-3:15pm & 3:30-4:45pm. These sessions are open to any adult who is experiencing mental health challenges. You don’t need to have any musical experience to take part and workshops will explore any style or type of music participants enjoy. A range of instruments (drums, shakers, xylophones, and more) will be provided but you are also more
than welcome to bring something else along if you would like to. Music is explored together along with musicians from the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and a workshop leader. You might get to write a new song together based on different themes you like, try new instruments and get creative together. Each session will be for around 10 - 20 adults. Typically, the 2.00pm session is a bit louder and the 3:30pm session takes a more gentle and quiet approach, so it might be worth considering which setting will suit you best. If there is space, sometimes people can stay for the second session after the first - but priority has to be given to those who have signed up for the specific session.

Sessions are free but spaces are limited and you must sign up in advance.
