PAPYRUS Prevention of Young Suicide is the UK charity dedicated to the prevention of suicide and the promotion of positive mental health and emotional wellbeing in young people.
Our suicide prevention helpline, HOPELINEUK, is staffed by trained suicide prevention advisers, who work with young people – and anybody concerned for a young person – to help keep them safe from suicide. HOPELINEUK is a free and confidential call, text and email service, which is available from 9am to midnight, every day of the year.
If you are having thoughts of suicide or are concerned for a young person who might be you can contact HOPELINEUK for confidential support and practical advice.
HOPELINEUK. If your life is at immediate risk, then you need to reach out to the emergency services on 999.
Our text/e-mail service can provide you with advice and guidance of where to get support to become better able to manage any thoughts of suicide you are experiencing. We cannot provide an immediate response and there can be a wait of up to 24 hours to hear back from us. You can always call us on 0800 068 4141 between 9am and 12am every day in order to work towards safety with an adviser. Due to COVID-19, we are experiencing a high volume of calls at the moment. If you are unable to get through, please leave your name and number and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
