Nutrition and Dietetics Service

The Nutrition and Dietetics Service assesses, diagnoses and treats nutrition-related diseases in children and adults and also provides support for their families.

Experienced dieticians aim to prevent or treat ill health by using their knowledge of nutrition to help motivate people to change their lifestyle and food choices.

The team works in a number of areas including:

  • allergies and intolerances
  • behavioural eating problems
  • obesity
  • gastrointestinal conditions
  • nutritional deficiencies
  • diabetes
  • cardiovascular disease
  • malnutrition
  • children’s health
  • weight management
  • health promotion and preventing disease (Fit4Life programme) 
  • HIV
  • therapeutic diets (such as gluten free diets for people with coeliac disease)
  • home enteral tube feeding
  • adult mental health
  • group education sessions
