National Theatre Free Courses

There are some free courses for those aged 14-21 coming so please have a look:
 
Young Technicians Course
"Applications are open for Young Technicians programme. This FREE course for 14-18 year olds will be delivered in person at The National Theatre. National Theatre Young Technicians offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills and learn all about a variety of backstage and off-stage roles from top industry professionals.  
  
The course will run in person at National Theatre on the South Bank, London on Tuesday evenings from 5-8pm. In these workshops you’ll be introduced to the basics of technical theatre including lighting, automation, sound and video, through demonstrations and practical activities.  
  
The National Theatre’s Young People programme is committed to diversity and access. Therefore, we concentrate our recruitment on young people from groups underrepresented in the technical theatre industries including: 
  
• young people from the global majority; 
• young women; 
• young people from working class backgrounds; 
• and d/Deaf, neurodivergent and disabled young people.

In Focus: Dear England  
 
Aged 16 - 21 and want to take part in workshops, meet new people and see world-class theatre? Whether you have a keen interest in theatre, or you’ve never been to the National Theatre before, our In Focus workshops offer a welcoming environment for an in-depth look at a National Theatre show.   
  
Coming up next we’ll be exploring Dear England, James Graham’s new play where he explores both nation and the game.  This workshop will be led by Associate Director on Dear England, Elin Schofield, and will explore some of the key moments of the play. Come ready to explore how football and theatre combine, both on and off-stage.

Introduction to Stage Management Course
We are excited to announce our Introduction to Stage Management course is returning in 2023. It offers an in-depth and free introduction to the art of stage management, led by our expert in-house teams. This FREE COURSE for 16-21 year olds starts in October and is hybrid; with online sessions and in person workshops at the National Theatre, on London’s South Bank.  Sessions will include:  
  
• Managing rehearsals, what goes in to running a show and  
• Running the show, including management of the company, team, set and crew 
• Observing a technical run of a National Theatre production
