Full-time, part-time and postgraduate students at university all qualify for help, and there's no age limit for receiving one. DSAs are paid on top of the standard student finance package and are not means-tested.
Students can be eligible for a DSA if they have a:
Mental-health condition, such as anxiety or depression
Specific learning difficulties, such as dyslexia or dyspraxia
Developmental disorder, such as autism, ADHD/ADD
Progressive medical condition such as multiple sclerosis, cancer or HIV
Sensory impairment which could affect the ability to see or hear
It can take about 14 weeks to process the form so students should apply for a DSA as soon as they have completed their UCAS and student finance form to ensure payment will be ready in time for the start of the course.
If you start a course with Open University (OU) you must apply for a DSA to the OU, not to Student Finance England.
