A2B Assessments (established 2016) are a radically new type of assessment company endeavouring to put the student at the heart of all they do when they are applying for DSA to support them at university.
The assessors are young, empathetic and sensitive individuals with a wealth of knowledge about the types of resources and funding that could ease the journey for students in the next step of their education.
However it seems that many students and families are unaware of the kind of support that they could get access to at university for conditions that may affect their learning from SpLD; mental health issues to physical impairments. This could even include severe asthma or Long Covid. The funding is not means tested and there is no upfront cost to an assessment with us.
We are keen to spread the word about DSA to students and families who may not be aware of it. We want to encourage students to apply before their HE courses start as the DSA part of the process can take up to 14 weeks. If students are aware that such funding exists and can access it in good time, it can make all the difference to their education choices and success.
On our Website if you select the second tab 'DSA Information' there is clear information about the process for students, some in video format. Also if you scroll down on the first page of our homepage you will get a feel for who is behind the company and the approachability of the assessors involved in helping students make the most of the funding to support their learning at HE.
While needs assessment meetings with students are currently being conducted online, we have assessment centres across England and many in London including Hendon and Harrow. We are hoping that we can work with London Borough Councils to maximise the impact of the funding for students wanting to move onto HE.
